Mr. Choung is a shareholder and founding member of the Echelon Law Group. Prior to founding Echelon, he practiced at preeminent law firms in both the U.S. and Korea, including Irell & Manella, Sidley Austin, and Kim & Chang. He has the unique experience of practicing in the legal systems of two of the leading Intellectual Property countries in the world.

Mr. Choung’s practice and experience run the gamut of Intellectual Property Law, with a primary focus on hi-tech, complex patent litigation and strategic counseling. He also advises clients on patent portfolio development and licensing, as well as IP due diligence and freedom to operate evaluations. With a footprint in both the U.S. and Asia, he also has experience in assisting and counseling clients on cross-border matters, including multi-country patent enforcement.

Mr. Choung’s technical experience spans a variety of hi-tech fields including internet technologies, business and financial methods, display materials technologies, integrated circuits, semiconductors & semiconductor manufacturing equipment; telecommunications technologies, automotive & aeronautical technologies, and virtual worlds & assets. He has also been involved in both patent prosecution and litigation in the specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical industries. His industry experience includes research work at the Oak Ridge National Laboratories and the Combustion Laboratory at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dr. Mun is a shareholder and founding member of Echelon Law Group, PC. Prior to founding Echelon, he practiced as a technical specialist and an associate attorney at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, L.L.P. While attending law school, he handled numerous domestic, foreign, and international patent applications, gaining extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of patent prosecution.

Dr. Mun has broad experience in patent prosecution and opinion drafting. He was a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined domestic and PCT applications in the areas of nuclear reactions, firearms, ordnance, ammunition, and explosives. He was also a licensing and review examiner, reviewing patent applications pertaining to government property rights and national security matters.

Dr. Mun also has significant experience with patent litigation before federal district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. He has handled all aspects of patent litigation, including conducting pre-filing diligence, managing day-to-day discovery activities, drafting contentions and motions, and preparing witnesses for depositions and trials.
